In some states, people who are non-religious, or have no religious affiliation, are not allowed to serve in office. The United States of America were created as a secular nation, and should not deny any rights to those with a different religious belief. Any state that doesn't allow for non-religious persons to serve are going severely against the original, and intentional boundaries put in place by our founding fathers. This isn't the same as freedom of religion OR freedom from religion, for by instituting any rule that prevents atheists from holding office, you might not be imposing a specific belief system, but you are requiring that someone be religious(church) in order to hold office(state). THERE SHOULD NOT, BY ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, BE A CORRELATION BETWEEN THE TWO.
