We have used oil for too long and Americans deserve to have choices at the pump. Car companies need to produce flex fuel cars. Oil companies need to invest in alternative fuels such as methanol and ethanol. A law needs to be passed that encourages oil companies and car companies to invest heavily in alternative fuel technology and take advantage of the other resources we have at our disposal. This is not a call to end all oil consumption, but a call for oil companies and car companies to invest in the fuel of the future and end our reliance on oil, foreign and domestic.
For decades, this country has been trying to end its dependence on oil. It's time we finally took the steps to accomplish that goal.
