Allow patients in hospitals in New York to commit physician-assisted suicide if they are terminally ill and in pain.

If a terminal hospital patient is in pain, that's no way to live. If the patient is mentally healthy and is able to make his/her own decisions about life, they should be able to choose to die, rather than to live in pain for the rest of their life. With a clear oral and written request from the patient, as well as the agreement of two doctors and a family member, a doctor should let the patient decide how they want to die, whether it is through a lethal injection or a fatal dose of medication, or another way. Three states already have this law. Why should New York not?
