allow people to discharge student loan debt through bankruptcy just like all of their other debts.

Created by J.R. on March 10, 2016

Student loan debt is the largest debt, other than mortgages in the United States. All other debts can be discharged in bankruptcy. People can overspend on credit cards, have excessive healthcare bills, buy a house that is too expensive and all of these debts can be discharged through bankruptcy.

Because of excessive student loan debt, many people are unable to purchase homes, cars or work for charities because they are handcuffed by this debt. The entire system needs to be revamped. Step one is allowing for bankruptcy discharge of this debt for those that cannot afford to pay, just like all other debts. People should not still be paying their student loan bills in the 50s and 60s. Let's help them now.
