Our government leaders are able to pay themselves as much as they want, and people outside of Capitol Hill have no say as to how much they're paid. If our congresspeople aren't doing their job the way the people like, they should have the ability to prevent them from a 200% pay increase. Our government is based on checks and balances, but the only person who can currently get in the way of a bill petitioning a raise is the president. If our government officials in the rotunda are being stubborn and not fixing the situation, then the people should be given an effective option to push them to action. In this climate, I believe that the pocket would produce the best results.
