In the State of New York, a person is allowed to get their driver's permit at the age of 16. They are required to wait 6 months until they can take a road test to receive their junior license. If a person has not received driver's education prior to this, they are not legally allowed to drive past 9pm until they are 18 years old.
Most states allow you to not only get a license at the age of 16, but there are also little to no restrictions on driving hours under the age of 18.
In the state of Michigan, a license can be received at the age of 16 and the only driving restrictions for people under the age of 18 are between the hours of midnight and 5am. These hours encourage teens to be home at a more reasonable and legal time rather than breaking the law coming home late.
