Due to inaccurate FEMA maps, many people around the country have been charged to update maps by hiring engineers to fix the inaccuracies. I am in the position of having to hire an engineer to research my property when elevation maps prove gross inaccuracies. It will cost me $2800. I propose that when FEMA maps are found to be in error and citizens have to pay for engineering services, Congress should vote to permit a tax credit equal to the costs incurred.
