Allow petitions to remain open for at least 30 days, even if the petition has met the petition signature goal.

Created by R.C. on March 12, 2015

The number of people that sign a petition is an important factor in the petition's influence. Petitions should be allowed to remain open a minimum of 30 days on this site before being shut down.

Recently, a petition to file charges against the 47 U.S. Senators for violation of the Logan Act was shut down after only four days. While the petition did meet its signature goal (more than twice over), the number of signatures the petition collected and would collect in a reasonable amount of time (30 days) would have said a great deal about the importance and support this issue has garnered. Shutting down the petition in just four days was unreasonable and unnecessary. Petitions should be left open for a minimum of 30 days.
