Allow the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina to be exempted from secession of the state and remain in the United States.

Created by K.E. on November 15, 2012

In the event that the state of North Carolina were to withdraw from the Union by means of secession, we request that the Piedmont Triad 12-county region be allowed to remain a part of the United States of America by being exempted from the secession action. This area includes the cities of Burlington, Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem.

There is precedent for such action, such as the breaking away of West Virginia from the state of Virginia when the latter chose to secede from the Union during the Civil War. West Virginia was admitted to the Union as a state in 1863.

Patriots of all political persuasions across the Triad would not be inclined to end our long, proud association with the greatest nation in the world. We are, and wish to remain, Americans.
