The U.S. Supreme Court through two landmark decisions (Engel v. Vitale in 1962 and Abington School District v. Schempp in 1963) has established the current prohibition on state-sponsored prayer in public schools. Since that time, society as a whole and public schools in particular have become increasingly dangerous. Students themselves have shown a callous disregard for the sanctity of life by committing lethal atrocities upon their own classmates. With the removal of our time-tested moral foundation sanctioned by our forefathers, these atrocities have escalated in frequency--being committed by both past and current members of our public school system. Removing God and prayer from our schools has not worked.
