Allow preschool teachers to receive Educator Expenses Tax Deduction along with K-12 teachers.

Created by H.D. on April 20, 2013

Each year on the tax form, many preschool teachers (of children birth through age 5) are excluded from claiming the Educator Expenses Tax Deductions that is only applied to teachers of grades K-12. We need to view preschool teachers as hard-working TEACHERS and not babysitters.

Teachers every year use much of their own money on classroom supplies. This can be due to not enough funding, or funding only for certain supplies. This tax deduction allows each teacher to claim as much as $250 of their own money back that they spent on their classroom. Preschool teachers spend their own money as well, and they should be offered the same opportunity as K-12 teachers.
