Allow private student loans to be discharged via bankruptcy, or force these lenders to abide with federal standards.

Created by R.L. on October 07, 2014

Private student lenders have their young student borrowers at a major disadvantage, and can impose unreasonable conditions upon them. Private student loan lenders have absolute control over their lenders' lives, and essentially a new system of slavery has been created in America. Given that these loans are non dischargeable through bankruptcy, private student loan lenders should either have their loan terms and conditions subject to the same standards as federal loans (negotiable IBR, discharges, forbearance, deferral, etc.), or they should be more easily discharged via bankruptcy. One American should not "own" another American.
