Some middle class students are unable to receive financial support from their families, whether it be low income or because one parent is unable to work due to disability payments. Such students thus are unable to meet their full financial need through government loans, and do not qualify for grants or scholarships. These students must receive financial aid from private lenders in order to satiate their financial need.
Unfortunately these students will struggle to repay these plans after college, and the assistance provided through several government-based repayment plans are insufficient to reduce the overall student loan repayment burden. This petition wants to change that, so all student loans will factor into repayment plan calculations.
