Allow a public audit of the gold stored in the Fort Knox Reserve. The last public audit was in September of 1974.

Created by G.D. on November 03, 2011

The gold reserve at Fort Knox has not had a public audit since the mid 70s. We the people of the United States deserve and should be demanding a public audit. Ron Paul has been asking for this to happen for quite some time and nothing has come of it. How do we know that the gold is still there? If the gold is there than why has the idea of a public audit been dismissed for years? As a country we are 14 trillion dollars in debt, if the gold is actually in the vault, why have we not sold it to make up some of this deficit instead of posting horrible corporate bailouts that have left our economy depleted. The Fort Knox reserve supposedly has 147,341,858.382 Troy ounces of gold which can be sold at a market price of $1,666 per Troy ounce. Do the math. We should not be left in the dark.
