NASA provides a vision that transcends current understanding of our Universe. The development of technology unrelated to war or defense is a worthy humanitarian cause that sets us apart from all humans that have come before us. The benefits of exploration are limitless - put frankly, there is no down side to learning more about who we are and where we are. NASA has historically and consistently contributed to the well being of humanity.
If the Government does not wish to spend funds on NASA, this petition asks that NASA be allowed to accept public contributions or allow tax payers to elect that their contributions be directed towards NASA instead of other budgetary items. The latter method is a form of vote-casting, allowing our government to see where tax payer concerns fall in reality.
