Members of our military injured in combat may be discharged with no access to military installations if they were not eligible to re-enlist due to injuries/disabilities. Many of those members of the military did not have enough time in the service to be considered a retiree, nor do they qualify for "military disability" due to lack of service time. Military installations have many services and benefits such as shopping on post/base, access to discounts, etc. When a military member receives a Purple Heart and then receives disability compensation from the VA, they should still be able to access these services/benefits. They should also have access to email. Providing Purple Heart recipients and families a special military ID would instill confidence that their government still cares.
