You are not permitted to refinance student loans to lower interest rates if you have borrowed money from the feds.
If you own a mortgage and have good credit and not under water, you can refi any day of the week but this is not possible with student loans.
The Federal Government should allow refinancing of student loan debt so borrowers can take advantage of lower payments and increased money in their pockets for savings or economic stimulation.
