We no longer live in the horse-and-buggy era. The technology exists to present, discuss, and decide issues promptly as a nation of voters.
We need a process (simpler than a constitutional amendment) that can unblock legislative logjams and discuss and decide "hot-button" issues.
Legislators stuck in ideological purity produce canned, unimaginative solutions.
Involving voters directly would greatly increase interest in political matters, and perhaps allow us to find creative solutions to intractable problems.
This country's leaders took a bold step in creating a republic. It is time now to advance to a democracy. There is more wisdom in the minds of many than n the minds of the few.
