Collectively, American's owe $1.2 trillion in student loan debt, far surpassing credit card and auto loan debt. The average student will leave undergraduate school with $29,000 in student loan debt, with easily double that amount for students who go on to achieve graduate degrees. Undergraduate rates on Stafford loans climbing to 4.66 percent. Some students will end up paying more for the interest on the loan then the originating amount. This debt is crippling not only students, but their parents and the economy as a whole. Balancing student loan repayment while trying to establish a career and a future is near impossible for college graduates. Loan forgiveness is not an option for most, but our students need assistance!
