ALLOW THE RETIRED NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS TO IMMEDIATELY RECEIVE THEIR PENSIONS UPON RETIREMENT

Created by F.T. on November 21, 2012

Upon retirement, those retiring from the regular Branches of Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard) are allowed to begin receiving their pensions immediately. Unfortunately, those members retiring from the National Guard have to wait until the age of sixty to receive their pensions. It should not be separated by Federal vs. State service as we are all veterans who served our country in times of peace and war. We wear the same uniform, draw the same pay, receive the same ribbons, decorations and citations as the Federal troops, why are we treated as a lower class of citizens? I believe we are all soldiers, sailors and airmen who wear the uniform of the United States Military and deserve the same consideration.
