Allow retirement savings account monies to be used to pay off mortgages for primary residences.

Created by T.L. on December 05, 2012

Retirement savings (401k, IRA, etc.) should allow for a 1 time, penalty free withdrawal to pay in full or partially the mortgage balance for a primary residence. This would allow homeowners who are not underwater to reduce or eliminate monthly payments, reduce or eliminate the long costs of interest and free up money on a monthly basis that can be used for savings or injected into the economy. This would both boost the economy and stabilize the housing market.
