We have friends we write with in Russia. They wanted to come and visit with us here in America. The US consulate took their money, then denied the visa. When I called to ask that they reconsider since our daughter has a life threatening illness and her friends lift her spirits, the US consulate-Russia said for them to apply again. They did, the US consulate took their money over 120. dollars and denyed their visa again. On the grounds they would immigrate. Our family letter made no difference. How do we open friendships with fellow world travelers while we deny our family the basic liberty of the pursuit of happiness. How can the US Government tell us who we can and cannot invite to our home? I can understand if they have a criminal record. Not the case here.
