Allow same-sex marriage couples to sponsor their spouse for a greencard

Created by S.W. on April 20, 2012

My name is Sarah, and I love my girlfriend with all my heart. We plan to get married. Because we live in New York state, this is possible, however, because our union is not recognized by the federal government (thanks to DOMA), my future wife can still be deported- our lives torn apart- because we are unable to secure a green card for her like heterosexual spouses can.

President Obama has the ability to repeal this discriminatory law. The organization Immigration Equality filed a lawsuit on April 2nd, 2012 addressing this exact issue, on behalf of 5 gay and lesbian couples, and all of us binational same-sex couples in the U.S. Tell the President to support Blesch vs. Holder in favor of my, and thousands of others, right to marry- free from the tyranny of forced separation.

Thank you
