In the US there has been a 20% decrease in divorces in states where same sex marriage is legal.
This country should allow same sex marriage because having it be illegal breaks the First Amendment. The First Amendment states that there can’t be any law denying or favoring a religion and religious views can not take part in federal law. Religious views should have no place in Federal law.
Hospitals in the United States require that when a patient is too incapacitated to make their own decisions, a blood relative or spouse has the authority to make these decisions for them. For same sex couples this medical right does not necessarily apply. Same sex spouses are not counted as family members or blood relatives. This denies people basic medical rights.
