The National Rifle Association's idea for an armed guard at a school is a step in the right direction but it does not offer all around security of the school. Having one person armed in a school would give any would be shooter a chance to take the person out and then be free to harm innocents until police arrive. According to wiki-answers says the average police response time in 8 minutes. 8 minutes is plenty of time for a tragedy. Instead I petition for there to be certain staff who have the necessary training to be able to handle a weapon and carry it on their person. This list of people could be deemed confidential and therefor a shooter would have no idea who has a weapon giving the element of surprise the armed staff member instead of the shooter.
