We believe that in every class in the United States, there should be a unit that ties to common core curriculum in order to teach students basic survival skills. These skills would include navigation without GPS, telling time without watches, how to make a fire, how to purify water given basic equipment, and how to administer first aid with basic equipment. These are skills that many children in the United States do not have, and to learn them would be greatly beneficial if there were a global or national emergency. Also, it will teach students to appreciate the luxuries they do have in their lives.
