At the beginning of this school year, we found out that recent federal laws strictly limited the amount of food that can be served to students during lunch. For many students, particularly student athletes, the current portions are simply not big enough to get us through the day. Some students choose to go to restaurants like McDonalds and eat fattening, unhealthy food, because they would not get enough food at school. Other students, such as those with free or reduced-lunch status, were formerly relying on school lunches as their main meal for the day, and no longer receive the calories that a growing adolescent needs.
Clearly this legislation has done more harm than good. End the restrictions on school lunch!
