My school in New Jersey takes off a day from our education merely for Columbus day. While I do think it is an important day in our history, it makes it feel like Veterans Day is being overlooked. My school does not take off for Veterans Day, nor do they even do anything to celebrate it. Why is this? My grandpa who is a Korean War veteran thinks this is a travesty and something should be done about this. Now I am not just saying this because I am a student, but because I do not feel this is right. I think that schools should still be in session for Columbus day and have off for Veterans day.
