Allow service members the freedom to have beards

Created by M.L. on March 19, 2013

Many service members of our great nation feel that we are at the mercy of some outdated limitations we must follow. The particular limitation that has upset many is the fact that service members are not allowed to wear beards. Each branch clearly states in their uniform guidance that a clean shaven appearance is required at most if not all times. It is of our belief that a beard could be maintained in a neat and professional way, and trimmed to allow the proper seal of a protective mask if need be. Many religions such as Sikhism and Islam see the beard as a devout symbol. A beard would also allow a service member to blend with crowds and avoid being targeted by enemies of the US/military. The allowance of beards would strongly boost morale of our Armed forces members. -Thank you
