Preisdent Obama should:
1. Recognize that a non-family friend or "BFF" of a single adult can be the most important person to that adult in time of need,
2. Provide a standardized authorization-form for a single adult to designate in advance who their non-family caretaker or guardian (for medical decisions, for example) will be, in the case when the adult prefers to have a non-family guardian to any member of his or her family
In Summary: Single adults need to have the right to select in advance a non family-member as their caregiver or guardian. A standardized way to do this needs to be devised, so that each State can adopt a well-defined way to do this, if the State so chooses.
