Allow single parents to join the military without giving up their parental rights permanently.

Created by A.R. on December 13, 2012

If an individual would like to join the military and they are a single parent the only way they can join the military is to permanently give up rights to their children and they can not attempt to get custody of their children back as long as they are in the military. This is a confusing rule because if an individual joins the military but conceives a child and they are not married they are not forced to leave the military so why is it not ok for them to join the military and defend their country. There are many service members that are single parents that do an outstanding job serving our country and great potential service members should not have to make this choice to serve their country.
