Allow small farms to sell directly to consumers without the regulations applied to factory farms

Created by A.M. on September 25, 2011

Federal agencies regulate farming with an eye towards preventing the sort of gross insults to hygiene and health that occur at factory farms where only the bottom line matters. These regulations are a nuisance to small farmers who want to sell to local consumers.

Michelle Obama has taken up the cause of growing tiny neighborhood farms. She should also look into the troubles that family farmers such as Joel Salatin face, with an eye towards giving them an exception from the factory rules, or at least allowing their customers to buy freely after signing a waiver.
