Section 2 of the Joint Resolution of the 28th Congress March 1, 1845, concerning the Annexation of the Republic of Texas allows for the State of Texas to divide into 5 states, each to be represented in the Federal Government by their own senators, representatives, and electors. This resolution lawfully passed both houses of Congress and was signed by President Polk.
We petition the Obama administration to allow this solution as an alternative to secession.
State boundaries would be drawn by the united Texas legislature. Each state would hold a convention to write its own constitution and elect state and federal representatives.
