A petition to allow the state of Virginia to peacefully recede from the United States of America and create its own, new government. Government has become too regulated and taxes will be raised as the government continues its out of control spending while ever increasing regulations threaten our liberties and freedoms. Virginians do not stand for a government that allows that and we are granted freedom in the Declaration of Independence to secede."Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed" and "whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends [i.e., protecting life, liberty, and property], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government"
