Allow the states to set the pay scale for Elected Representatives. They represent the state, not the party affiliation.

Created by M.B. on November 12, 2012

My petition is to grant the individual states the right to set the pay scale for their elected representatives. Too many of our elected officials care more about the D or the R after their name than about the the TN, GA, OH, CA, etc. While there is still reason to be concerned about lobbyists who might offer more money than the states do, the lobbyist only supply those who can get them a vote in Washington. Campaigns don't spend millions of dollars to have a job paying 200,000 a year for just a couple of years... they are in for the retirement too. In order for congress to be truly representative of the people, the people need to be the ones who determine what the pay criteria is for their representatives. If a candidate is in it for public service, this should be of no concern.
