before the constitution was written, all of the 13 colonies were separate. then, they all agreed that it would be better if they joined to form the united states of america. but they are only in the union because they wanted to be. Puerto Rico could become a state, but it wishes not to. therefore, the states should be aloud to secede if they decide to. the current government is not exactly fair in some respects. the electoral collage vote, had it not existed, would have changed the outcome of many elections. i myself am glad that Obama had won, but i feel that he has not won fairly. if the majority wants Mitt Romney to be president, then it should be so! we do have the right of secession!
