We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Allow the status of being self-employed to be used as a valid exemption from jury service

Created by T.J. on May 17, 2016

Citizens that are self-employed are often the primary wage earner in their household or place of residence. Being self-employed requires the self-employer to attain a great attention to detail and have devotion to their trade. In order to establish a lasting relationship with their clients, they need to complete their assignments on the proper time that is promised and proposed to the client. It would be a financial hardship to serve on a jury because the self-employer would be forced to take time away from their work, in order to serve, causing them to risk losing clients, commission work, and wages that come with such responsibility. Since a citizen may be excused to serve on a jury due to financial hardship, being self-employed should be a valid exemption from serving on a jury.
