Allow Students to Borrow at the Discount (Bankers) Rate

Created by G.B. on July 28, 2014

Currently, and for at least the last three years, banks have been able to borrow from the federal government at the rate of .75%

Over the last three school years undergraduate student interest rates have varied from 3.86% to 6.85%.

It is time for our Administration and our Congress to take action and allow students to borrow at the same rate as banks. It is shameful that we burden those responsible for progressing the future of our country with so much debt when those businesses who depend on the U.S. Economic infrastructure pay so little.

Our economy would benefit from an educated workforce not burdened, unnecessarily, with tens of thousands of dollars in student loan interest in addition to the loans themselves.
