Students under 24 years of age are considered dependent on the FAFSA, and are therefore expected to receive money from their parents in order to pay for college. They are forced to provide their parent's income information. This has resulted in thousands of students who live on their own, and receive no financial aid from their parents, to have to wait until they are 24 to go to college.
Please sign this petition to help our youth be able to afford a college education, and to help change the discriminatory policies of the FAFSA towards students whose parents are unwilling or unable to help.
