Allow taxpayers to earmark how we want our money spent-social programs, defense, foreign aid, infrastructure, science etc.

Created by J.K. on November 18, 2012

One of the things people argue about is how our tax money is spent. Each party wants to spend it on their issues. I think that most people agree that the government serves an important purpose, but each person would like their taxes to go to they things they value. So, when we fill out our tax forms, we can have a check list that allows us to earmark where we'd like our tax money goes. This would serve two purposes: 1) it would let Congress know where its constituents wanted to focus spending, and 2)it would allow taxpayers to know their taxes are being used according to their beliefs. If you value defense spending, or social programs, or infrastructure or foreign aid, you could be assured that your hard-earned tax dollars are supporting those programs.
