Ever since its creation, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) have done all that it can to limit the choices that Americans have. The CPD requires candidates to reach 15% in five national polls to participate in a CPD sanctioned debate, but the CPD does not reveal what polls that it uses or require that polls even include third party candidates' names.
The president should call on the CPD to amend its rules to allow any candidate who is on enough state ballots to be eligible to receive the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency to participate in debates. As it stands now for the 2016 election, this would include both the Green and Libertarian party presidential and vice presidential nominees. Tell the CPD to give Americans a real choice.
