allow those on SS benefits to earn more than the $14k currently allowed for early benefits.

Created by K.P. on November 28, 2012

Limiting the income for those receiving SS benefits, defeats the purpose. $14,640 for a single person is long overdue to be adjusted for today's cost of living. Instead of punishing the overage - lose $1 for every excess $2 earned - increase the limit to $20k until full retirement age. With the economic downturn, older citizens are having to take their SS early when unable to find full-time work, especially women. The increase would provide a more livable income, taking into account transportation costs, food and shelter, meds and medical co-pays.
