allow those who do not itemize on their taxes the right to deduct the first $250 they donate to charity.

Created by K.K. on February 21, 2013

A lot of taxpayers do not own their own home, especially since the housing bubble, but do give to the charitable organizations. These taxpayers may not itemize on their tax returns because the standard deduction is good enough. However, we should do more to encourage or support charitable giving by the middle class. This tax deduction would be a reasonable way of doing just that.
