allow those who feel taking human life is morally wrong to designate the Defense portion of income tax towards education

Created by J.E. on July 16, 2014

The Supreme Court, in the Hobby Lobby decision, has ruled that individuals and private corporations do not have to fund government activities that violate their religious beliefs.
For centuries, Pacifists have strived to keep from the taking of human life through participation in the military, or by funding the Department of Defense through their income taxes. Their position has now been given additional legitimacy beyond moral and religious grounds to constitutional grounds as well.
Those persons who feel that the taking of human life is morally wrong must be given the option to direct the portion of their income taxes away from defense related parts of government to education, or another area they designate.
