I understand that if a person commits a felony in this country that they have to pay their debt to society. But what about those of us who have paid our debt to society and try to live productive lives a decade or so after the felony has been committed and the stigma of the crime committed hinders us well after the debt is paid. Why should someone who has stayed out of trouble with the law for fifteen years or better have a problem with getting a job. Why arent we given a chance to start over. In many cases our records can be used as tools for discrimination, for businesses that wouldn't or didn't want to hire us in the beginning, who can just say that the reason for not hiring us is our records, when they had no intention on hiring us in the first place.
