Please allow properly trained volunteer teachers, staff and administrators the right to carry a concealed handgun on school grounds as part of their duties for the protection of students and staff. Gun control laws and "gun free zones" by definition create areas where criminals know that they are safe to carry on with their activities without immediate intervention. Criminals do not obey the law, and adherence to laws do not affect them.
This legislation would include thorough background checks, proper classroom and range qualification training and would be completely voluntary. Handgun carry would be concealed, and the identity of volunteers would not be made public knowledge.
The only proven method of deterring public shootings is concealed carry by citizens.
