With the repeal of "Don't ask, don't tell," gay and lesbian people were allowed to serve openly in the US Armed Forces. However, transgender soldiers are still required to remain "closeted" if they wish to serve. Many who have come out face discharge, discrimination, and other risks. This is a violation of human rights and needs to be fixed.
We the people petition the US Government to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in its entirety, allow transgender people to serve openly in the US Armed Forces, and give them equal protection and opportunity.
