I want President Obama to issue an executive order directed to the Department of Defense which orders that the decades-long practice of banning transgender, transsexual, and intersex Americans from serving in the nation's armed forces. Everyone else is allowed to serve their nation in this unique way, even immigrants. I don't think that the exclusion of trans folks is warranted. I think that trans individuals can be useful serving our great nation. Trans individuals belong to a historically discriminated minority and often face problems in the attainment of employment, housing, etc. The military can benefit from having qualified trans individuals serving our nation. The medical ban is bad science and it's not fair. Have Obama correct this wrongful practice in the name of equality.
