Currently state laws regarding the correction of birth certificates to match the citizen's mental sex in cases where wrong sex was assigned at birth are varied and often outlandish in requests for authorized correction. Propose a federal mandate forcing state governments to allow for individuals of transsexual and transgender identities to change these vital records without having to first undergo expensive and hard to attain surgeries. The issues of birth certificate sex have many consequences on individuals of the demographics concerned from employment to mental health and many other powerful negative effects.
