As a strong left-wing liberal, I am in favor of increased gun control. However, people have been certified and trained to use their firearms, why are they not allowed to protect themselves on the road? With it being federal law, highway bandits have easy targets when going for truck drivers. What good should a melee weapon do in protecting their life against a bandit toting a shotgun? If a truck driver has passed their background checks and taught how to use their weapon, why should they be deprived of something that could protect their life? I'm sure that any truck driver would agree and leave a peace of mind for their families.
